Today's writing progress

I just broke 65,000 words on the current novel (which still needs a decent title). I think I'm probably about half done.

woot!

I owe you comments, probably, if I could think of any issues with your plot, writing, etc. Which I can't. Grr.

I did not know there was a "current" novel. Cool! What's it about? Good luck!

It's set in Israel. One of the two main characters is a kabbalistic magician who is a member of an ultra-secret group within the Mossad who deal with magical problems, which are becoming bigger and more frequent for some reason. The other is an American of mixed Jewish and Navajo parentage. He was raised on the Navajo reservation, but wasn't really happy, and decided to go explore his mother's heritage in Israel when he turned 18. He fell in love with Israel and stayed, eventually ending up being recruited by the Mossad.

Just before the book opens, Joe, the American, has run afoul of a bigoted superior officer who had him arrested for insubordination and treason. He ends up being discharged, and needing to put his life back together.

The head of the occult specialty group has noticed that Joe has magical talent he isn't doing anything with. He assigns Simon to try to recruit him. The story line revolves around Joe's progress putting his life back together and Simon's efforts to steer him in a direction that will let him recruit him back into the Mossad again. Matters are further complicated by the fact that Simon also has a magical problem to track down, which is getting smarter and more ambitious (for which read producing higher body counts and more trouble) as time passes. In the end they will end up joining forces to defeat it, and Joe will get brought back into the fold, leaving the door open for additional adventures.
