Yeah, when I was involved in the gay marriage debates at the VT state house, we ran into a woman on the front steps who was there just to point out to the so-called pro-family "one man and one woman for every child" advocates that they'd just implied that her family model (she was a single mom) was just as "invalid" as a gay/lesbian family with or without kids. She was really offended, and rightly so. It really is unfortunate how much mainstream society insists that the only "real" or "valid" family is a heteronormative couple with children, preferably their own biological ones. Oh well - the times, they are a-changing!
